Go to the movies and support refugees at the same time: that's possible at the Zurich Film Festival ZFF, the second-largest film festival in the German-speaking world. Until 2026, Switzerland for UNHCR is a charity partner of ZFF, which takes place annually in autumn in the city of Zurich. When you buy a ticket for a film at the festival, you can donate at the same time to support people forced to flee around the world.
Starting next year, Switzerland for UNHCR will also be a partner of the BORDER LINES section at ZFF. In this section, films are shown that deal with human rights issues. These include current events in world affairs, activism and humanitarian projects, territorial and social tensions and conflicts between the individual and the state. At these screenings, you will also have the opportunity to find out more about Switzerland for UNHCR and its work.
ZFF is known for its illustrious guests. Every year, renowned directors and famous acting talents stride across the distinctive green carpet at Zurich's Sechseläutenplatz. Some among them have been strong supporters of UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, such as Hollywood star and UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador Cate Blanchett.
The Zurich Film Festival 2023 will take place from September 28 to October 8. Come by, enjoy inspiring movies and show your support for refugees at the same time!
