Switzerland for UNHCR (CH4U), the Swiss Foundation supporting the UN Refugee Agency, is looking for a committed Business Analyst Specialist to help us grow and sustain our data analyses. This position is in the Individual Giving (IG) department. IG develops fundraising activities with the general public in Switzerland and Liechtenstein, acquires new donors, retains and develops existing ones, reactivates inactive ones through multichannel marketing campaigns, and provides quality donor care. The department also oversees the development and implementation of marketing technologies to optimize campaign performance, enhance donor engagement, and support the fundraising needs of the Foundation. This includes leveraging Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems for donor data management, marketing automation tools for personalized and timely communications, data analytics platforms to measure and improve campaign effectiveness, and digital advertising technologies to reach new audiences.

Under the leadership of the Head of Supporter Engagement, the Business Analyst Specialist is responsible to produce the data analyses required to support both short-term and long-term data-driven decision-making. Additionally, the role ensures that all necessary data is properly stored in the data warehouse, and that relevant insights and analyses are accessible to various user groups across the organization (Individual Giving team, Partnerships & Philanthropy team, senior management, etc.). 

 

The incumbent needs to understand the strategic as well as the tactical needs of the organization in relation to analytics and reporting, and to translate these into clear requirements for the Data Warehouse and BI tools  

 

What you will do 

As our new Business Analyst specialist, you will: 

  • Make strategic and tactical plans on what kind of data needed to be able to carry out complex analyses and make data-driven decisions  

  • Advise and support the management team regarding forecasting, reporting, analysis and documentation for data-driven decisions   

  • Lead the democratization of data: shape the way the team works with data, aiming at creating a single supporter view and donor-centric experience  

  • Oversee data segmentation, targeting and selections   

  • Provide in-depth and complex analysis for the entire organization's business development. Provide advice and recommendations linked to data and analytical results  

  • Work with the Global Strategy and Analysis team on market Life-Time Value (LTV) and Propensity model analysis and other similar reporting and analysis  

  • Act as a first line of support for any data analytics and reporting requests from the team  

  • Design and deliver interactive dashboards and reports   

  • Lead on design and delivery of training (Power BI, dashboard usage, data interpretation), training materials and best practices for business users accessing analytical insights and reports.  

 

As data warehouse product owner, working in partnership with the Global and Regional HQ teams, the Business Analyst Specialist will:   

  • Optimize data structure and coherence for reporting and analysis, monitor data quality and integrity and oversee data hygiene improvements 

  • Specify what data sources are needed to answer business questions, working with HQ teams on technical implementation.   

  • Connect AI and ML and build predictive models for donors’ potential to donate  

  • Ensure that all the needed data is gathered in one place with a clear, consistent and documented data structure, and develop the organization's BI and visualization tools  

  • Act as the main point of contact for business requirements related to analytics and BI, defining and prioritizing the backlog of dashboards, reports, and predictive models, while coordinating closely with the CRM Specialist on governance, architecture, and data integration.   

  • Implement an agile way of working, ensuring that analytics and BI priorities are transparent, well-documented, and aligned with fundraising and organizational goals   

  

The role works both with colleagues within Switzerland for UNHCR and in collaboration with HQ colleagues on data-driven analysis work. 

 

 

What You bring 

We are looking for someone who is: 

  • 5- 7 years’ relevant experience including several at similar levels in marketing analytics, data management, and business intelligence tools  

  • Experience developing analytical insights for private fundraising and or a related marketing field a must. Understanding of individual giving principles and practices would be a strong asset. 

  • Sound understanding and knowledge of SQL, Data warehousing (Big Query or equivalent), BI Tool (Power BI or equivalent), Salesforce NPSP, Google Analytics, and other relevant analytical software and platforms.  

  • Experience developing and delivering data strategies
