We are proud and happy to announce that together with the Cardano Foundation, we have won an INATBA award in the Sustainable Innovation category!
This award, given away in a Gala in Brussels on 30th January, recognizes Switzerland for UNHCR’s efforts in using blockchain technology as an innovative way to help raise funds in support of people forced to flee.
Last year, the collaboration between Switzerland for UNHCR and the Cardano Foundation had resulted in the launch of WRFGS, a charity stake pool for Refugees. It is used to generate staking rewards that are allocated to UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, operations in underfunded refugee crises (80%) and UNHCR Innovation Funds (20%).
UNHCR received an additional award: INATBA honoured the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, with the Humanitarian Excellence Award. This recognizes UNHCR’s "outstanding
commitment and groundbreaking use of blockchain technology to address
critical challenges in the humanitarian sector."
INATBA is the International Association for Trusted Blockchain Applications. They are dedicated to supporting and promoting their members to bridge public and private entities and promote global blockchain adoption across diverse fields.
